Uncovering Proper Grounds - Jezebel

When Madonna first started her new record label - Maverick - the first artist signed to it, and the one she seemed most proud of was a Hip-Hop Rock group by the name of Proper Grounds. She personally went on the Arsenio Hall show and introduced them, which led to the first - and only - mosh pit on the Arsenio ever.

I actually played a gig with these guys at Club Lingere, where I showed up to sing a Hendrix Song as the "Spirit of Hendrix". I did it as a favor for Beverly Milner of the BRC.

Despite Madonna's boosterism the group really didn't click and barely finished their initial tour.. It wasn't long before Maverick had jumped off the Proper Grounds Train and had dug out one last desperate nugget from Seattle with Candlebox.
